The first phase of our permissions update is here, including the ability to add users to multiple groups! This update includes a TON of new features, improvements, and bug fixes. We've also updated mobile and CW ScreenConnect with a few things this release adds or fixes as well.
NOTE: Prior to updating to v2.34.0, please consider the following requirements:
- For Self-Hosted Customers:
- This update requires at least Redis 6.2. To make sure you are on the latest, go to the directory that contains your Hudu setup, and edit your docker-compose.yml redis tag to be redis:7.4.0 (see example below). Cloud-hosted instances will be updated automatically.
- For all Customers:
- A default group for users must be designated. If no default group exists at the time of the update, Hudu will automatically create one.
- All users besides admins or super admins must be in a group. Any users not in a group at the time of the update will automatically be added to a new group called "Previously Ungrouped Users". Note: this does not apply to admins or super admins, as they cannot be in groups.
New Features
- Add users to multiple groups: Users can now be added to multiple groups within an instance. This allows for greater customization when it comes to company and password folder access. Read more about multiple groups and managing permissions here.
- Manage group membership from user profile: Admins can now add and remove a user from groups directly from the user’s page.
- Expanded admin password generator defaults: Administrators now have the ability to set password generator defaults for all available password generator options.
- Added support for Azure OpenAI: Requires an OpenAI deployment and endpoint from Azure.
Improvements
- Massive performance and enhancements to load time.
- Reduced Docker size.
- Added 8- and 12-hour expiration options when sharing a password.
- Added ability to add/edit password tags when creating a new password or editing an existing password.
- Added a green checkmark to copy buttons to indicate text has been copied.
- Updated default behavior for links in KB articles and in rich text fields of assets to open in a new tab. You can still customize this per link as needed.
- Added flags to asset previews.
- You can now close any modal (including asset preview) by clicking anywhere outside the modal, or by hitting the esc key. (Note: this means the esc key will not longer activate a search. You can still activate a search by typing ctl + /)
- You can also exit full screen view of photos by hitting the esc key.
- Added horizontal scroll to documentation quality table to accommodate more columns.
- Updated behavior of search inputs when using certain browsers to not automatically select the search input.
- Updated behavior of search for tables to default to comprehensive.
- Made various improvements to admin pages for groups, users, and password folders. Some notable ones:
- When inviting new user via email, you can hit enter/return instead of clicking the often missed “Add” button on screen.
- You can now designate group names (instead of group ID) when bulk inviting users via .csv upload.
- Added inline editing for group name.
- Added option to select all when restricting password folders to specific groups.
- When editing group permissions directly from a record or company, you can now access a list of who currently has access directly from the change permissions modal. Updated saving behavior so modal remains open after group access is updated, making it easier to update multiple group permissions at once.
- Removed name from URL slug to prevent incorrect slugs when entity name is updated.
- Cleaned up Admin/Security pages to improve clarity and reduce chances for errors.
- Added icon to indicate if a KB folder is Global.
- Fixed password color for “no fill” in dark mode.
- Added destructive button styles in dark mode.
- Updated error and success colors in dark mode to increase color contrast.
- Enhanced infrastructure to boost speed of environment.
- Backend integration improvements for:
- Watchman Monitoring
- Auvik
- Atera
- Kaseya BMS
-
For CW ScreenConnect Helper (version 1.7.0), Hudu admins can now set specific hours during which users are allowed to access the ScreenConnect Helper. Users in a group with a login schedule will automatically adhere to the group’s configured access hours.
